An Official 'Hello' !

Its not our best work but we just wanted to put something simple and quick together to introduce ourselves and show our appreciation for your interest! :)

The Japanese Garden

The weather outside is feeling more and more like summer as the days pass but instead of heading to the beach, we decided to visit a Japanese Garden in Van Nuys this week. It wasn't the brightest idea but we had fun.

The garden was obviously beautiful and well groomed and we very much enjoyed it, minus the weather!

We ended our day by checking out the Half and Half Tea House in San Gabriel. We've heard much about it and even had a special request to review some of its most popular items. Christina opted for a milk green tea w/ their honey boba and egg pudding, I got a peach milk tea with the honey boba, and we decided to share a brown sugar shaved ice with clear jelly, egg pudding, and pineapples. The drinks itself were so-so, the boba was something different and we actually liked it; the shaved ice -- you get a pretty big portion for the price you pay and it wasn't bad at all. The brown sugar gets a bit overwhelming but it definitely cooled us down in that heat! The service on the other hand was bad -- our waitress never checked on us and we were pretty much invisible. You should definitely give it a try if your nearby though!

The Hike

This was the MOST adventurous and active of our journeys. Liz and I plunged into the wild when we took a 5 mile hike around Portuguese Bend/Palos Verdes. It was gorgeous scenery and breathtaking landscape, but the hike also took our breath away--literally. We started our hike at the tip of Crenshaw around 9:30 and hiked all the way down to the beach, where we snacked on a couple of things...then it was time to head back on the trail of death in the blazing hot weather. We finally reached our car at 1pm, pooped! It was definitely a great adventure that helped us work on our figures and let us enjoy the gorgeous California coast.

Final Destination: The bottom of the hill!

Can't you tell? She was pooped!

Yummy peanut butter banana sandwiches, tangerines, water, chewy bars, and powerade!

The hidden Chris and Liz cave that was discovered.

Amazing what erosion can do to land.

All the rocks were rounded and smooth due to the ocean, so pretty!

The gorgeous hike down.

And with that our hike up the mountains and along the coast was over. It's something that you should try out because it's wonderful to be outdoors, and it doesn't hurt when the weather is gorgeous too. We'll have to take a break from hiking for a while because it was crazy, but stay tuned to see where we'll be going or what we'll be doing next!

Long Overdue ..

Christina and I are on Spring break this week and decided it was about time we checked out Jin Patisserie. Although our visit turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, we did take some pictures and made the most of our day by discovering the surrounding neighborhood of Venice Beach. We also took a stroll on the boardwalk and ended our day at Studio Antiques in Downtown El Segundo.

We opted for the Afternoon Tea Set -- egg salad sandwiches, quiche, savories (including banana bread), and mini pastries.

& the "Fleur de Jasmin" tea, which we really enjoyed!

Mini-pastries and cakes were also sold inside.

Monkeying around :)

Only actual picture we got on the boardwalk..

Definitely worth a peak inside -- they've been featured on A&E's hit show "Storage Wars" THREE times! Never know what you'll find.

Do come back next week to see what we get ourselves into. Til' next Tuesday, Chris & Liz!

Food Trucks & Beach Day

Things did not go according to the plan--we were not able to make it to Jin Patisserie, but that didn't stop us. We make every day an adventure! We crashed El Porto in Manhattan as guys and gals were taking their surfing lessons. We soaked in the sun and went sand-dollar-hunting. These guys are a rare find and you can only find em after you go knee deep in the ocean as the tides pull out. Before hours of hunting for these things, we filled up on food for the body at a local Food Truck stop by LAX. Check out the photos we collected!
PS: Did I mention that we had a special guest? Everyone give a round of applause for Ken!
Started our day off with some greasy wieners! :) Yum.
This is Vinny from Jersey Shore enjoying his Naanwich.
Here we are, check out our sand dollar collection!

:o There's two of us.

Super Ken

As Liz drives down PCH, while the taxi driver's staring through the window, she does the robot. Story of her life.

Check em out! PRECIOUS!

Although it was a local day, we kept it fun. No worries, Jin Patisserie will just have to wait its turn. Next week is spring break, let's see what we'll come up with next!? Stay tuned for another Tuesday with Chris & Liz.
